Experience (Relate):
I am currently a NUS third year undergraduate in Business. I have three years of tutoring experience for primary school students, both in lower and upper primary.
I am very familiar with the current syllabus. Thus I am able to pinpoint difficult topics and concepts to focus on as I understand the common mistakes and difficulties encountered by primary school students. I would relate questions to student's daily life to stimulate his/her interest in thinking more critically.
I am very particular about homework assignment. I would want my students to finish all my assigned homework before the start of every lesson. It takes two hands to clap. For a student to improve, it requires the hard work of a tutor, and also the determination and cooperation from both the student and the parents.
I am also very patient and I do not like scolding my students unnecessarily as I feel that it would hinder learning ability instead. However, I would be firm to my students when required.
To me, tutoring is not only a part time job. I am responsible for my student's result. I really want to improve their results. This is the satisfaction i gain from this job. Thus I believe in giving my best to my students.
